In the US, more than 13,000 children have been hospitalized and more than 300 have died due to COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic. To help stop the spread of COVID-19, on May 12, 2021, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommended that the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine be used in children age 12-15 years. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also provided new guidance which now allows COVID-19 vaccines to be given at the same time as other recommended vaccines, including influenza.
