In the US, more than 13,000 children have been hospitalized and more than 300 have died due to COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic. To help stop the spread of COVID-19, on May 12, 2021, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommended that the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine be used in children age 12-15 years. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also provided new guidance which now allows COVID-19 vaccines to be given at the same time as other recommended vaccines, including influenza.
In this episode of the Schaffner Report, NFID Medical Director William Schaffner, MD, talks with NFID Executive Director and CEO Marla Dalton about these important new developments.
