Message from Headquarters
Respiratory season has arrived at my house. We are already navigating the first head colds, and I am trying to get everyone in my family vaccinated. For my kids, I’m looking for somewhere they can get what they need, particularly the COVID-19 vaccine, ideally in one visit. Last year, they screamed bloody murder at the pharmacy, so I am also hoping for a quieter experience—for us and everyone waiting behind us.
I am also making sure my mom gets the vaccines she needs at her assisted living facility. She has dementia and cannot tell me what she has received in the past. That means working with her care team to sort through what she needs. And I just turned 50, so I have a few more vaccines of my own to think about. I want all of us to be protected, and I know why it matters. But getting everyone vaccinated is not as easy as it sounds—even when you lead an organization devoted to infectious disease education.
