COVID-19 story featuring Telva

Telva Olivares, MD, runs a Latino healthcare clinic in New York, where she has been working to dispel myths and encourage her patients to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Among the points she has made with her patients: COVID-19 can be deadly, and COVID-19 vaccines have been used safely by millions of people. Dr. Olivares also has recommendations for other healthcare professionals when discussing COVID-19 vaccines with patients: “I make it a point in every patient contact to ask about their vaccination status. I ask how they did with their vaccine, and if they tell me they haven’t had a vaccine I start the conversation—every contact,” Dr. Olivares says.
