India

My name is India and I am now 23 years old. In 2012 at the age of 15, I caught meningitis. I was on a school trip with my childhood friend at a wonderful amusement park that I had attended every year since I was about 6 years old. All I remember is enjoying myself with my friend and classmates. When I got home the next day, I felt like I had a stomach virus and was throwing up. I felt horrible, so we went to our local hospital. My legs just collapsed. I was admitted to the hospital and was in extreme pain. I had to go through physical, occupational, and speech therapy for a couple of years.

When school started, I was home-schooled. Four months later, I went to high school with assistance. In 2016, I graduated! To this day, I still struggle with issues from meningitis. I have come a long way and I thank God, my family, and my doctors and nurses. I am dealing with health issues but I’m glad to be alive! Hoping to become a psychologist or veterinarian soon, as I ❤️❤️❤️ animals.
