6/18 Updates on Avian Influenza webinar promo graphic

In this recorded webinar, the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID) hosts a discussion on the current US outbreak of avian influenza A(H5N1), also referred to as bird flu. The webinar addresses the epidemiology of avian influenza as well as current guidelines and strategies for disease management and prevention.

NFID Medical Director Robert H. Hopkins, Jr., MD moderates the discussion with presentations from NFID Secretary Ruth Lynfield, MD, State Epidemiologist and Medical Director, Minnesota Department of Health, and Sonja Olsen, PhD, Associate Director for Preparedness and Response, Influenza Division, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the epidemiology of avian influenza A(H5N1)
  • Describe US guidelines and strategies for the management and prevention of avian influenza
  • Discuss the public health response to avian influenza
