Message from Headquarters

With influenza (flu) season approaching and COVID-19 cases surging across the US, now more than ever, we must all advocate with ‘one strong voice’ for vaccination and other evidence-based prevention measures to stop the spread of vaccine-preventable diseases. In collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), NFID will host the virtual 2021 Annual Influenza (Flu)/Pneumococcal Disease News Conference on October 7, 2021 at 9:30 AM ET to kick off the 2021-2022 flu season. Together with a panel of leading experts and key partner organizations, NFID will raise awareness about the importance of protection against flu and pneumococcal disease amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. CDC Director Rochelle P. Walensky, MD, MPH, will report on flu vaccination coverage rates, and NFID will share results from a new national survey to better understand vaccination attitudes and behaviors among US adults, including adults with chronic health conditions, older adults, and others at higher risk. Be sure to join us in Leading By Example by sharing vaccination images via social media, and stay tuned for more tools and resources from NFID throughout flu season.
