Antibiotics May Not Be The Answer (Webinar)

Adults frequently visit healthcare professionals for treatment of coughs, sore throats, and nasal congestion. Join the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID) during US Antibiotic Awareness Week to learn how to identify uncomplicated conditions and implement successful interventions to avoid inappropriate antibiotic use.
NFID Director Sara E. Cosgrove, MD, MS will moderate the webinar with presentations by Shira I. Doron, MD, Hospital Epidemiologist and Director of Antimicrobial Stewardship, and Associate Professor of Medicine at the Tufts Medical Center, and Julia E. Szymczak, PhD, Assistant Professor of Epidemiology of the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Describe the epidemiology of acute uncomplicated bronchitis, pharyngitis, and rhinosinusitis in adults
- Summarize treatment recommendations and clinical tips for managing uncomplicated infections
- Identify factors that lead to successful antibiotic stewardship interventions for these conditions
