I. Purpose

Consistent with its duty to provide and maintain a workplace that is free of preventable hazards, NFID has adopted this policy to safeguard the health and well-being of employees and their families, visitors, and the community from infectious diseases such as COVID-19, which can be mitigated through an effective vaccination program. This policy is intended to comply with all federal, state, and local laws. It is based upon guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and state and local public health agencies, as applicable.

II. Scope/Applicability

This policy applies to all NFID employees.

III. Policy

NFID requires that all employees be vaccinated against COVID-19. To establish that they have been fully vaccinated, all employees must present written evidence of immunization by providing a copy of their CDC vaccination card to HR.

IV. Vaccine Administration

Employees are responsible for scheduling and obtaining all recommended doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine. Employees may get vaccinated during regularly scheduled work hours, contingent upon supervisor approval.

NFID will pay non-exempt employees for time spent getting vaccinated if done during regular work hours. Supervisors must approve all leave during working hours to minimize business interruptions.

V. Request for Accommodation

For employees with accommodations, proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours must be provided to HR prior to attending any in-person work-related activities. Those who cannot get vaccinated must wear an approved face-covering at all times while in the workplace or at an NFID-sanctioned event. Reasonable accommodations may be made for disability/medical reasons on a case-by-case basis.

Policy Modification

Government and public health guidelines and business/industry best practices regarding COVID-19 and COVID-19 vaccines are changing rapidly as new information becomes available, further research is conducted, and additional vaccines are approved and distributed.

NFID reserves the right to modify this policy at any time in its sole discretion to adapt to changing circumstances and business needs, consistent with its commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.


NFID prohibits any form of discipline, reprisal, intimidation, or retaliation for reporting a violation of this policy or any other health and safety concern. NFID will not discharge, discriminate, or otherwise retaliate against employees for reporting work-related injuries or illnesses or good faith health and safety concerns.
