The National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID) recently elected two new members to its Board of Directors.
George C. Hill, PhD, is vice president for sponsored research and professor, Department of Microbiology, School of Medicine and director of international health programs, Meharry Medical College, Nashville. Dr. Hill received his BA from Rutgers University, an MS from Howard University, and his doctoral degree in biochemistry from New York University. In addition to his total of 16 years at Meharry, Dr. Hill has been a visiting lecturer at the University of Nairobi, Kenya, and a visiting scientist at the Issaquah Health Research Institute, Issaquah, Washington. He was also an associate professor in the Department of Pathology, Colorado State University.
Diane M. Simpson, MD, PhD, is director of the data management division, the National Immunization Program, Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Atlanta. Dr. Simpson received her BA degree from the University of Texas, her MS and MPH degrees from the University of Texas School of Public Health, and her PhD in microbiology and MD from the University of Texas Medical Branch. Prior to her work at the Texas Department of Health, she was medical epidemiologist in the Division of Immunizations, Center for Prevention Services, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. Simpson holds board certification from the American Board of Preventive Medicine.
