NFID O
FFERS TWO IMPORTANT EDUCATIONAL VIDEOSContinuing its battle against occupational HIV exposure and antimicrobial resistance, the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID) continues to offer two educational videotapes addressing these important health topics.
"Putting the Pieces Together: Managing Occupational Exposures to HIV," is a 2¥-hour video which discusses practical guidelines for managing HIV exposure in the workplace. Geared toward health care professionals, topics include incorporating public health recommendations into existing policies and procedures, potential occupational risk factors, steps to take if an exposure occurs, available treatments for the exposure, safety and legal issues, and guidelines for designing proper programs to manage HIV exposure.
The video is the direct result of a broadcast which aired in January of 1998, was co-sponsored by NFID, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Public Health Training Network, and was viewed by more than 34,000 individuals.
"Antimicrobial Use and Resistance: Solutions to the Problem," provides health care professionals with an overview of the increasing problem of antibiotic misuse and/or overuse as well as the emergence of antimicrobial-resistant pathogens. Methods for tracking antimicrobial resistance, strategies to improve antimicrobial use, and ways to prevent and control the spread of antimicrobial-resistant pathogens are key features of the program.
This 2 1/2-hour interactive broadcast, co-sponsored by NFID and the CDC and in partnership with the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. and the Society for HealthCare Epidemiology of America was aired in August of 1998.
Both videos are available in VHS format for $30 each, which includes the cost of shipping and handling.
