IDEOCONFERENCE ON HIV EXPOSURE IN THE WORKPLACEA new videotape is helping the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID) to once again get the word out about HIV exposure in the workplace. The videotape is a recording of a January 1998 videoconference, "Putting the Pieces Together: Managing Occupational Exposures to HIV" that NFID co-sponsored with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Public Health Training Network.
This 2 1/2-hour broadcast, which provided physicians, nurses, occupational health professionals, hospital administrators, infection control providers, and others with practical guidelines for managing occupational HIV exposure, is available from NFID in VHS format for $30, including shipping and handling.
During the broadcast, viewers learned how to incorporate public health service recommendations into their own policies and procedures on managing HIV exposure. Topics included potential occupational risk factors, steps to take if an exposure occurs, available treatments for the exposure, safety and legal issues, and guidelines for designing proper programs to manage HIV exposure
