Conference Proceedings In Print

The National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID) announces the availability of two important conference proceedings. Coccidioidomycosis contains the proceedings of the Fifth International Conference on Coccidioidomycosis, held at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA in 1994. The new volume contains over 400 pages and serves as a companion to the proceedings of the fourth conference, held in 1984.

Host-Fungus Interplay contains the proceedings of the Fifth Symposium on Topics in Mycology which was also held at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA in 1995. As with the Coccidioidomycosis proceedings, this volume is heavily illustrated.

Both publications cost $40 per copy, which includes postage and handling. Supplies of these proceedings are limited. Order your copies now by sending a check made payable to NFID with the attached order form to NFID.

Proceedings from a symposium, HIV Protease Inhibitors: When and How They Should Be Used, have been published as a supplement to the journal, Infections in Medicine. Topics presented at the symposium included an historical perspective and basic science of HIV protease inhibitors, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of HIV protease inhibitors, overview of resistance and cross-resistance to HIV protease inhibitors, evaluation of plasma r-RNA as a surrogate marker in the treatment of HIV infection, safety profile of HIV protease inhibitors, and a clinician's practice perspectives on the use of HIV protease inhibitors. Complimentary copies of these important proceedings are being provided as a public and professional service by NFID through an unrestricted educational grant from Merck & Co., Inc.
