An issue entitled Infective Endocarditis in the 21st Century will mark the reintroduction in June of Clinical Updates in Infectious Diseases, a quarterly publication from the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID). The publication is one of three in the Clinical Updates series; the other two publications cover fungal infections and pediatric infectious diseases.
Clinical Updates in Infectious Diseases features a popular one-topic format, with a nationally- or internationally-recognized expert in the topic area serving as the author. The 22,000 physician subscribers to the publication will now be able to obtain Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit hours for reading each issue and completing the included test and evaluation.
Merle A. Sande, MD, a member of the NFID Board of Directors, and professor and chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of Utah School of Medicine, has assumed the role of editor-in-chief. Dr. Sande is the co-author of the infective endocarditis issue along with Chris MacMurdo, MD, a resident at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Kip Kantelo, coordinator, Office of Continuing Medical Education, NFID, is managing editor.
