The National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID) is sponsoring the Third Annual Conference on Vaccine Research: Basic Science-Product Development-Clinical and Field Studies. The conference will be held April 30 - May 2, 2000, at the Renaissance Washington Hotel in Washington, DC. Collaborating with NFID will be the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the International Society for Vaccines, the Albert B. Sabin Vaccine Institute of Georgetown University, the US Department of Agriculture, the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research of the United States Food and Drug Administration, and the World Health Organization.
The conference is specifically designed to bring together the diverse disciplines involved in the research and development of vaccines. Expert faculty from various disciplines will present the latest vaccine-related scientific data, results, and issues via symposia and panel discussions. Symposia will focus on the following topics:
Last Spring's conference was attended by 400 registrants from the US and abroad. The 2000 conference will include a keynote address by William H. Foege, MD, and will feature the Mary Lou Clements-Mann Memorial Lecture in Vaccine Sciences by Sir Gustav Nossal. The conference is also accepting submissions of abstracts for oral and poster presentations.
The conference was developed for researchers, scientists, epidemiologists, microbiologists, immunologists, molecular biologists, physicians and veterinarians, vaccine manufacturers, and public health officials who have an interest in vaccine research.
NFID is accredited by the Accredidation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide Continuing Medical Education (CME) for physicians. NFID takes responsibility for the content, quality, and scientific integrity of this CME activity. NFID designates this CME activity for a maximum of 15.5 credit hours in Category 1 of the Physician's Recognition Award of the American Medical Association. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
