NFID

Influenza Immunization for Adults Aged 50+

Influenza causes approximately 36,000 deaths and more than 200,000 hospitalizations in the U.S. each year. Many Americans 50 years of age and older are unaware they are one of the groups recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for annual influenza vaccination. This group also does not recognize the benefits of annual influenza vaccination, putting themselves and their loved ones at risk for influenza and its serious complications. Because of this, it is imperative that all Americans aged 50+ seek influenza vaccination throughout the entire season to protect themselves and others.

Americans aged 50 and over often serve as caregivers responsible for keeping older parents and young grandchildren healthy year-round. Annual influenza vaccination is a simple but vital activity that helps maintain ongoing health and work productivity, as well as the ability to enjoy vacation and leisure time, and to provide care for other family members.

This initiative is made possible through an unrestricted educational grant to NFID from sanofi pasteur.
