NFID’s Improving Influenza Rates in Adults and Children with Diabetes initiative provides professional resources and successful approaches to help practices and organizations address dangerously low influenza vaccination rates among people with diabetes, the fifth deadliest disease in the U.S.
The materials are designed for use among practices and institutions that provide influenza vaccine, as well as for those that do not provide vaccine services yet can refer patients to be immunized elsewhere.
NFID has issued a Call to Action for all health care professionals who treat persons with diabetes to help improve vaccination and educational efforts in this vulnerable population. In addition, NFID has published a comprehensive monograph outlining strategies and interventions for use within various practice settings and numerous tools that can be adapted, including patient educational and clinical tools.
