The First Annual Conference on Vaccine Research will be held May 30 to June 1, 1998* at the following hotel:

The Marriott at Metro Center is an AAA 3-diamond award hotel located in downtown Washington, D.C.--only five miles from National Airport, 25 miles from Dulles International Airport, and one mile from Union Station. Adjacent to the Metro Center subway station, the hotel is within walking distance of numerous shops, galleries, museums, historical attractions, and entertainment.

This facility is fully accessible to the public in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines.

*This meeting is one week AFTER the U.S. Memorial Day holiday, which occurs on May 25 in 1998

Hotel Accommodations

A limited number of guest rooms has been reserved at the Marriott at Metro Center for conference participants at the rate listed below.

$139 (plus 13% tax), per night, single/double occupancy

To make a reservation, call the hotel directly at (800) 228-9290, and tell the agent that you are attending the Conference on Vaccine Research being held from May 30 to June 1, 1998. Reservations should be made no later than May 8, 1998 in order to secure the conference rate. After that date, rooms are on a space- and rate-available basis only.

Air Travel

United Airlines is the official airline of the First Annual Conference on Vaccine Research. If you or your travel agent call United's toll-free number at 1-800-521-4041 to book your reservations, you will receive a 5 percent discount off the lowest applicable domestic fare, including First Class, or a 10 percent discount off mid-week coach fares, purchased 7 days in advance. You can earn an additional 5 percent discount if you purchase your tickets at least 60 days in advance of your travel. Discounts also apply on Shuttle by United and United Express. Call United's specialized meeting reservations center at the number above to obtain the best fares and schedule information, 7 days a week from 7:00 a.m. to midnight, EST. Transportation

By Plane:
Washington, D.C. is serviced by three airports:

National Airport serves major North American destinations and is closest to the Marriott at Metro Center, only 5 miles away. Taxi service between the hotel and National Airport is available for approximately $12 one-way. The new terminal also provides convenient access to the Metrorail subway system. Simply take the Blue Line train in the direction of Addison Road. Disembark at the Metro Center station and leave the station via the exit for 12th and G Streets. Turn 180 degrees and continue half a block north on 12th Street. The Marriott at Metro Center will be on your right.

Dulles International Airport is located approximately 25 miles from the Marriott at Metro Center. The airport handles both domestic and international traffic. Taxi service between downtown and Dulles is approximately $40 one-way. The Washington Flyer shuttle service operates 7 days a week from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. The cost is $16 one way or $26 for a round-trip ticket. The shuttle departs Dulles for downtown every half an hour and will drop you off at Washington Flyer's K Street terminal, from which you can get a cab to the hotel or take Metrorail from the nearby Farragut North station.

Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) is located approximately 40 minutes from of Washington, D.C. The airport handles both domestic and international traffic. Taxi service between downtown Washington and BWI is approximately $50 one way. Super Shuttle transportation service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with buses running every 30 minutes. The cost is $21 one way or $34 round-trip.

By Metrorail:
The Marriott at Metro Center is located just outside the 12th and G Streets entrance to the Metro Center station, which is located at the junction of the Red, Orange, and Blue lines. Metrorail subway fares vary based upon the time of day and length of your trip.

By Car:
From the North: Take I-95 South. Exit south onto the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. Exit Parkway onto New York Avenue West; follow signs for 7th Street, NW, going south. Once on 7th Street, NW, turn right on E Street, NW; turn right on 12th Street, NW.

From the South: Take I-95 North to I-395 North. Exit onto 12th Street, NW.

From the West: Take I-66 East into Washington, D.C., where it becomes Constitution Avenue. Turn left onto 12th Street, NW.

From the Northwest: Take I-270 South to I-495 East. Take Exit 33 South onto Connecticut Avenue. Turn left onto I Street, NW; turn right onto 13th Street, NW. Turn left onto G Street, NW; turn left onto 12th Street, NW.

The registration fees are as follows:

On or before April 24, 1998: $325
After April 24, 1998 and Onsite: $350

Space is limited to the first 300 registrants. The registration fee includes a program/abstract book, continental breakfast on each day of the conference, and all scheduled coffee breaks. Accommodations and additional meals are not included.

Cancellation Policy

Written requests for refunds are subject to a $50 administrative fee. NFID, NIAID, CDC, and ISV reserve the right to cancel this conference at any time. In the event of conference cancellation, the full registration fee will be returned to the registrant.
